Here are some precautions you must take in this season;-
The first problem that arises with cold weather is smoke ventilation. During hookah in winter, no one wants to open their windows to let that chilly wind come inside. Thus causing a ventilation problem. A Reddit user by the username ‘c0ltron’ while addressing this problem quotes, “if you eat the shisha instead of smoking it you’ll end up with a lot less smoke”. Well, We won’t recommend doing this, which is like avoiding eating so you don’t have to poop.
So, what should one do to have ventilation during winters?
If you live in an apartment the best way is to open the bathroom door and open the exhaust fan, to let the smoke pass through it. Or if you don’t have the bathroom near your room try installing such a fan in your room. Ventilation after a smoking session is quite important.
Another mistake that people do often is hovering around the burner when the charcoal is lighting up initially. Due to cold weather, hands become cold and people try to stay near the burner while the charcoal is lighting to keep their hands warm, which is a big mistake. Staying near the burner while initial lighting of charcoal can irritate your respiratory system because the smoke produced is not so good. So, stay away from the burner use your blanket instead to keep yourself warm.
Also, you need to keep your charcoals air-tight, as moist charcoal can affect your smoking session. Try to keep them in a dry place and avoid moisture getting on your charcoal. If you have a tainted piece of charcoal you can put it in an oven at 250-300 degrees for about 10 minutes. It will remove moisture from your charcoal and make it ready for use.
